Our Story
Founded by survivors, for survivors — The Cottages at Haven Harbor is a new kind of refuge, built from lived experience and rooted in the Tampa Bay community.
Domestic Violence Awareness — You are not alone. Help is always here.
Our Mission
The Cottages at Haven Harbor is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care for survivors of domestic violence and their children. We believe every person deserves safety, dignity, and the opportunity to heal and thrive.
"A Tampa Bay community where every survivor of domestic violence has access to safe housing, healing support, and a clear path to independence."
How We Began
The Cottages at Haven Harbor was founded in 2025 in Gainesville, FL by survivors of domestic violence who knew firsthand what was missing — not just a safe place to sleep, but a true home, a community, and a path forward built with dignity.
Our founders came together with a shared conviction: that the people best equipped to serve survivors are those who have lived it. That vision brought us to Tampa, where we are now building the programs, partnerships, and spaces that will make it real.
We are building something different — a refuge where survivors are not just helped, but heard, respected, and empowered to lead their own recovery.
What We Stand For
Safety First
Every decision we make begins with the safety and wellbeing of the survivors and children in our care.
Dignity Always
We treat every person who walks through our doors with unconditional respect, compassion, and dignity.
Empowerment
We believe survivors are resilient. Our role is to provide tools, support, and space for their own strength to emerge.
Community
Healing doesn't happen in isolation. We build genuine community among residents, staff, volunteers, and partners.
Accountability
We are responsible stewards of the trust our donors, partners, and residents place in us.
Whole-Person Care
We address housing, mental health, legal needs, children's wellbeing, and economic stability together — not in silos.
Concept Facility
A glimpse into the campus we are working to build — a place where survivors and their children can find safety, healing, and a path forward.
These are contemplated concept renderings. All designs represent our current vision for the facility and are subject to change. Final design decisions will be made by the architect in collaboration with our leadership team to best serve the overall goal of our mission.
Campus Map
The shelter floor plan reflects a trauma-informed design philosophy. Private family suites are arranged to maximize quiet and security, while shared common areas encourage peer connection and healing. The layout separates high-traffic service areas from residential wings, ensuring survivors have both access to support and the privacy they need to begin rebuilding their sense of safety.
